Annoyance #20,000

I heard this today and it reminded me that I must make a note on here.

I heard someone telling someone else that if she had known that a woman is pregnant for 10 months, she wouldn't have gotten pregnant...even though she had to use a lot of fertility intervention to do so. How freaking ungrateful!

Seriously...shut up!

I hate the whole I was pregnant 10 months story. Yes, I get that 40 weeks is almost equivalent to 10 months. I am a Math teacher, must I remind everyone.

But, since you must count according to your last period...and taking into consideration that really, you are pregnant 2 weeks instead of 4 in the first month...and considering that most women find out after those 4 weeks....plus, discounting the 5-week months...it's really 9 months. Regardless, I don't freaking understand what the difference is at the end.

I know...I am dumb to rationalize everything. But, oh...it's just so annoying!

And...I know how those last few weeks feel like. I carried two big babies-at the same time- full term and worked full-time and developed an awful condition towards the end and all while I was still going to school! So....give me a break!

Off my soap box...for now!

Yes, it's 40 weeks, but calendar months are 4 and 1/2 weeks long. From the first day of my LMP, my due date was always 9 months and a few days later. And then, like you said, you aren't technically pregnant for two weeks, and then you don't know for another 2. Stupid, ungrateful people. I love your rants!:)

I agree with you! I love being pregnant, even though it is hard for me!

I know about the math and all, but in my case, because I am so ANXIOUS and EXCITED to see my baby, and because I am so TIRED of peeing every 3 minutes, it really feels like a BILLION months. But it's just cuz of those reasons :)

Wow! I agree, very ungrateful!

It reminds me of a lady in my ward who went on and on about she doesn't understand why she has to go to the doctor every month when she is pregnant and every two weeks toward the end of the pregnancy. She thinks it costs too much money to do that.

I about feel off my chair. It took all I could do to reply nicely about why it is important to see
the doctor so often.
I love your rants!

Yes! I've always been annoyed when someone says 40 weeks = 10 months. NO IT DOESN'T!!! The only month of the year that is only 4 weeks is February, and not every pregnancy even hits that month. Plus the whole first two weeks you aren't technically pregnant thing- which according to calendar months would make a pregnancy less than 9 months. And then there is me who has yet to make it farther than a week before my due dates so I've only been pregnant 8 1/2 calendar months at the longest (and just about 8 months with Mason).

The math: 40 weeks = 280 days. Nine calendar months = 273-276 days. So at the most you go one week into the 10th month, the least 4 days. Take off the first two (non-actually-pregnant)weeks and you are quite under 9 full months.

Manu, no one is more qualified to speak on the subject of 9 vs. 10 months than you, my dear. Soap-box away!

WOW! Some people. I love your soap box, it is quite amazing. Your rationalization of 9 months vs. 10 months is the most astounding thing that I have EVER witnessed :)
Love you Manu-neice :)
